Dead Souls

Although Nikolai Gogol (1809–1852) wrote «Dead Souls» in the 1830s, this work remains relevant to this day, as it vividly and truthfully reflects the most important issues for Russia. Many characters from the novel—Chichikovs, Korobochkas, Nozdrevs, Plyushkins, Sobakeviches—have become household names and are often mentioned in modern realities.

According to the poet Pyotr Vyazemsky, «talking about „Dead Souls“ allows one to talk endlessly about Russia».
