Demons

«Demons» — the third novel of the «great pentateuch» by Fyodor Dostoevsky. The classic himself called it his best book. The novel was not republished during the author's lifetime. The chapter «At Tikhon» banned by censorship was first published only in 1922.
Dostoevsky begins writing «Demons» as a fierce antinihilist pamphlet, but breaks out of the genre and creates one of his best novels: a political thriller, a satirical action movie, a religious drama, and an existential tragedy under one cover.
