The graphic novel sheds light on the history of the great Bobby Fischer's rise, recounting his incredible ascent and transformation into an icon of American culture, as well as his unexpected and equally unprecedented fall. An engaging narrative about ambition... and fame, reclusiveness and madness. Reflecting on Fischer's ambiguous figure, the author and illustrator opted for an interesting move, dividing the novel into chapters, each dedicated to one of the pieces in a chess game. Readers are invited to contemplate alternative scenarios – just like in the well-known game. The only difference being that the fate of a person is at stake, and any incorrect move on the board could lead to defeat in real life.
