Colony

 

A small Irish island lives its own life, and it resolutely does not care that Civilization exists somewhere and Progress is happening, while a civil war rages next door. The island has enough of its own joys and problems. But... one day, two outsiders appear on the island: an English artist and a French linguist. Such a neighborhood is hard for anyone to endure without moral losses, and the inhabitants of a small island even more so. Moreover, the only local teenager is drawn into the slow but steady slide towards a resolution: in a very sluggish local life, he has to go through all the stages of development in a record time, which somehow took many, many centuries for world culture and civilization.
