Reason in the Fog of War. Science and Technology on Battlefields

Modern militarized science and technology are presented in this book as a moral catastrophe, linked to the use of human reasoning resources to inflict the greatest suffering on people. Over the last century, scientists and engineers have found many ways to harm humanity. Specialists, with financial support from states, continue to invent increasingly effective methods of destroying people and their habitats. At the same time, the human mind itself has become a battlefield of a new type, transformed into an extremely vulnerable target, in many respects more important for the wars of the 21st century than factories or military facilities, and into a weapon, as the fear and anger generated by propaganda can cause very real socio-economic and political damage.

The author understands that there is no simple way to redirect scientific knowledge and target it exclusively for the benefit of humanity; however, having a clear understanding and formulation of the problem is the first step toward its resolution.
