The Aroma of Time. A Philosophical Essay on the Art of Contemplation

In the essay «The Aroma of Time», Byun-Chul Han reflects on the crisis of perception of time: the transience of each moment, hyperactivity, and lack of rhythm. Every moment is the same as the previous one, and there is neither dynamics nor direction that gives life meaning. According to Byun-Chul Han, «the temporal crisis will be overcome only at the moment when vita activa, active life in full crisis, again embraces vita contemplativa, contemplative life, back to its bosom».
