The great geographical discoveries are one of the most interesting and exciting eras in human history. The mad courage of the pioneers in achieving their goals was combined with incredible cruelty towards the populations of the lands they discovered. All this is discussed in the book by the German scholar Sigmund Günther "The Age of Great Discoveries". Although it was written at the end of the 19th century, it has not lost its educational value in our time.
