Dombey and Son Vol. 1

Mr. Dombey, the owner of a large prosperous firm, has finally had a son. Mr. Dombey is happy because now the name of his firm "Dombey and Son" corresponds to reality. He can now pass the business down as an... inheritance, and the continuity of generations will not be disrupted! Everything else is unimportant to Mr. Dombey. The death of his wife does not sadden him, he is indifferent to his daughter, as all of this has no relation to the future of the firm. All thoughts are about his son, who, alas, turns out to be weak in health, and this threatens the fulfillment of the father's dreams. Can Mr. Dombey understand what is truly important in life? Is he capable of changing before it is too late?
This novel by the classic of English literature Charles Dickens (1812-1870) touches on themes characteristic of the writer: the relationship between fathers and children, social inequality, as well as the search for higher justice, which can often only be achieved many years later.
