Calla Fletcher returns to Toronto a different person and tries her best to move on, but can't get the harsh pilot who captured her heart out of her mind. And when John appears on her doorstep, she enthusiastically rushes back... to Alaska, into their exciting shared future. It doesn’t take long for Calla to realize: perhaps this compromise comes at a high price. Life in the dark, impenetrable wilderness, John, who is constantly away from home, neighbors, one of whom wants to turn her into a true Alaskan resident, while the other would rather shoot himself than come to her aid… All of this is just part of the trials on the road to happiness. It doesn’t seem like the future Calla wanted, and it makes her wonder: what if she is doomed to follow in her mother’s footsteps?..
