The Soul of Man. Revolution of Hope

In his work "The Soul of Man," Erich Fromm focused on studying the essence of evil, noting that this book is in some sense the opposite of another, perhaps his most famous book – "The Art of Loving." Reflecting on... the nature of evil, he concludes that the desire to dominate almost always turns into violence, and the main danger to humanity comes not from "sadists and perverts," but from ordinary people who hold power. The Revolution of Hope is dedicated to the problems of contemporary technocratic society, which pulls individuals into an endless race of material production and maximal consumption, depriving them of spiritual orientation and the joy of existence. How can one preserve in these conditions the living human emotions and responsiveness? What can and should each person do to stop the impending dehumanization of society?
