Ice

«Ice» — the main novel by British writer Anna Kavan, who was compared to Virginia Woolf during her lifetime and called Kafka's sister. Critics consider Kavan to be a pioneer of the slipstream genre («vortex») — literature of fantastical imagination, where cause-and-effect relationships hang by a thread, and heightened emotions are incomparably more important than logic. In her novels, a quite realistic depiction suddenly shimmers, and unexpected images and scenes emerge from the depths of the subconscious.
