The Prince

Niccolò Machiavelli dedicated part of his life to public service. His experience and observations of the methods of politicians became the basis of the treatise "The Prince," known today all over the world. In it, Machiavelli advocated for strong power,... for the sake of which he allowed cunning, betrayal, and violence. Of course, this provoked conflicting opinions, and the Catholic Church included his work in the list of forbidden books. Nevertheless, the ideas of this historian and philosopher about governance methods, ways of obtaining power, and the qualities a ruler should possess, as well as the factors determining the success of implemented reforms, have found their application in the realm of politics and remain relevant to this day. The book also includes the work "On the Art of War," in which the author, not being a military man and acquiring his knowledge in theory, expressed such profound ideas that they encompassed various aspects of human life. The texts of this edition are supplemented with detailed comments and explanations.
