Hero of Our Time

«Hero of Our Time» 1840 is rightly considered the first psychological novel in Russian literature. The narrative is based on the life story of the main character, Grigory Pechorin. The work consists of five parts, arranged not in chronological order;... however, there is a certain logic to it. The writer gradually begins to immerse the reader into the inner world of his hero, a cynic, a squanderer of life, who believes in nothing, contradictory and ambiguous. Despite all this, «Hero of Our Time» is also a philosophical work that presents the reader with the most important questions about the meaning of life, about the role of fate; it is also a love story, engaging, exciting, and tragic. Written in the last century, «Hero of Our Time» does not lose its relevance because in every generation there are its heroes, its Pechorins, its «superfluous people».
