The Secret Garden. Home Reading with Exercises for Beginners

This book is an adaptation of one of the best works by the famous Anglo-American children's author Frances Burnett, "The Secret Garden," about a young girl named Mary Lennox who becomes an orphan at an early age and finds herself at her guardian uncle's estate, where she discovers an abandoned garden. She begins to take care of the garden, and as it blooms and flourishes in response to her care, Mary also "blooms" and "comes to life." From a sickly, selfish, and spoiled child, she transforms into a healthy, kind, and responsive girl. This novel about self-healing is recognized as one of the most popular children's novels in 20th-century literature.
The text of the manual is adapted for educational purposes to the Elementary level. Each chapter is accompanied by commentary, translations of difficult words and phrases, as well as assignments that meet the requirements of the OGE. These are aimed not only at checking comprehension of the text but also at practicing vocabulary, grammar, and developing reading skills. The exercises help to form and develop communicative competencies necessary for successfully passing the final exam in grade 9.
At the end of the manual, answers to all assignments, an English-Russian dictionary, and a test in the OGE format with answers are included.
The book is intended for students in grades 5-9 of educational organizations, as well as a wide range of individuals studying the English language.
