This time, the action takes place in... the Marshalsea prison, known primarily as a debtors' prison. The main character, Amy Dorrit, was born and grew up within the prison walls. Her father could not pay his creditors and, therefore, has been imprisoned for over 20 years along with his whole family. A terrible injustice! Especially concerning young Amy, who is blameless, yet the girl has not hardened and has not lost the desire to help everyone in need. This quality, in turn, will help her find her happiness. Especially when everything turns upside down in Amy's life — she will become free and rich, while her benefactor will find himself imprisoned within the walls of Marshalsea.
