The Power of the Alchemist

Fallen gods, cast out from the confines of the ether, gather scraps of power among humans, placing on sacrificial altars both their supporters and those driven to them like herds of sheep by mercenaries. The fallen can inhabit any vessel, and even the power of the alchemist, allowing Eri to sense the transformation of matter, cannot help him recognize who is near him: enemy or friend, once a fearsome god or a cunning goddess.
