Shock

Lydia Yuknavich has the gift of telling the stories of vulnerable people whose lives are full of shocks. In the near future, due to global warming, the ocean level has risen, and refugees flock to the surviving patches of land.... Liseve has lost her mother and brother and is trying to save those she still cherishes. She travels through water and time, communicates with a turtle, collects strange things. On her path, she encounters the builders of the Statue of Liberty, prisoners of an underwater prison, an Indigo child, a woman with a prosthetic leg, people of all ages and nationalities. Will Liseve, wandering in mirrored worlds, be able to change the course of history? Will she manage to escape the wounding dystopia and find a way to a future without borders and social hierarchies? And is there a home for all who understand how beautiful the shared dream of freedom is?
