The Master and Margarita

Mikhail Bulgakov (1891–1940) — an unrecognized genius of his time, the pinnacle of his creativity — the novel "The Master and Margarita" — was subjected to persecution and censorship for many years. The book was first published in full only... in the 1980s, forever securing its place among the classics of not only domestic but also world literature. The plot alternates between sharp satire, phantasmagoria, and ironically philosophical scenes, constantly surprising the reader by shifting the narrative between Moscow in the 1930s and Jerusalem in the 1st century AD. On the pages of the novel, there is a talking cat walking on its hind legs, and Pontius Pilate delivering a terrible verdict to the Savior; a witch flying naked over the night capital, and Yeshua healing his executioner.
