Emigrants

Alexei Tolstoy, without sparing colors, accurately paints the emigrant life of Paris with officers and aristocrats, members of the imperial family, women from high society, exhausted and barely surviving in poverty, ordinary people. The novel was first published in 1931 under the title Black Gold. It was written almost on the heels of events and is based on the author's real experiences, with genuine historical episodes framing an engaging plot full of unexpected twists.
