Wild Fletcher

Kalle Fletcher was very small when her mother took her from Alaska to the civilized world of Toronto. Isolation and extreme temperatures proved unbearable for the pilot's wife, used to all the comforts of a big city. Now Kalle is... twenty-six, and her father, who stayed in Alaska, had long been a part of her past that she was afraid to remember. But now it was time to make the difficult journey to the border town where she was once born.

Bad weather conditions, mosquitoes, short daylight hours, sky-high prices — these are what Kalle has to endure to get closer to her father. Joining her is Jona — a quiet and proud pilot who does not immediately accept the foreigner, too delicate for life in extreme conditions. Unlike Kalle, Jona cannot imagine himself anywhere else on the planet and would not trade the snowy mountains for anything. He can’t wait for the capricious girl to finally leave him alone and go where she truly belongs.

Perhaps Jona is right, but Kalle is eager to take him down. Time passes, and she realizes that she has become attached to the grumpy pilot. Now they share something like friendship, or even something more, that neither can admit to. In the end, Kalle will return to Toronto, and Jona will stay in Alaska. It would be foolish to fall in love with someone you can never be with. Wouldn’t it?
