The last book of the "Trilogy of Desire", "The Stoic", gives reason to think about many things. Frank Cowperwood continues to amass wealth, this time from the construction of the London Underground, striving to take it completely under his control - and at the same time integrate into the challenging British society. The investments promise fabulous profits and it seems all the desires of the fortunate entrepreneur are satisfied. But a sudden illness destroys all plans, the will to live fades away – and with it, the energy of money fades as well. Thus ended the story of the great capitalist, based on the real-life example of millionaire Charles Yerkes.
