The Reserve. A Book for Reading in English

Sergei Donatovich Dovlatov (1941–1990) is one of the most read and published Russian writers. His works have been translated into many languages. The novella "The Reserve" (1983) is rightly considered one of the most significant works of the prose writer. As in most of Dovlatov's works, the prototype of the main character is the author, who worked at the museum-reserve A. S. Pushkin "Mikhailovskoe" in 1976–1977.
The narrator is a writer who comes to the Pushkin Hills in the summer to work as a guide. Money, wife, creativity, and the state are what cause internal contradictions for the main character. However, these same problems were acute for Pushkin, who lived in the settlement "Mikhailovskoe" 150 years ago.
The reader of the book is given the opportunity to get acquainted with Russian literature in English. The edition is equipped with comments and a dictionary.
