Fiesta (And the Sun Rises)

Ernest Hemingway (1899—1961) — one of the most popular and influential American writers of the 20th century, known for his novels and stories, as well as a life full of adventures and surprises. Hemingway's literary reputation is built on the style of his prose, which he honed with great care.
In his first novel «Fiesta (And the Sun Rises)», Hemingway addresses the problems and pain of the lost generation, intertwining love and loss after World War I.

The story tells of expatriates living in 1920s Paris: Jake Barnes — a veteran and journalist, and Brett Ashley — an Englishwoman and socialite. Together with the characters, we travel from the tumultuous nightlife of Paris to the ruthless bullfighting arenas of Spain, immersing ourselves in the atmosphere of spiritual decay in society, moral bankruptcy, and ghostly illusions.
«The Torrents of Spring» — one of Hemingway's early novellas. Spring arrives in the small towns of Michigan, while snow still covers the ground when Scripps O'Neil heads to Chicago, but on the way decides to make a brief stop in Petoskey and meets Yogi Johnson. They are greeted with whimsical stories, the characters they encounter are absurd, yet somehow familiar to each of us. This short, dynamic novella parodies the style and mocks the images of the characters from Sherwood Anderson's novel «Dark Laugh».
