His most famous creation, which became a classic of Russian literature, is the family saga «The Golyovlevs». Arina Petrovna is a strict and practical landlady, who makes her servants and even her family tremble. Despite her wealth, she carefully controls the budget and limits expenses. However, dark clouds gather over the ancestral estate when the woman loses power due to the treacherous intrigues of her son Porfiry.
