Ancient Lycia

Lycia is an ancient country that once was located in Asia Minor and left behind numerous archaeological monuments. In the first millennium BC, Lycia already had a unique culture: language, writing, architecture. At different times, the country was conquered by the Persians, Alexander the Great, the Romans, and the Turks. Despite this, Lycia managed to maintain autonomy within the ancient empires. The book narrates the historical path of the Lycian people and the fate of their country starting from the Trojan War - about the centuries-old confrontation with the Rhodian Greeks, the Persian conquest, and the life of the Lycians in the Roman and Byzantine Empires. In the gallery of historical figures, the reader will meet Alexander the Great, Ptolemy I, Caesar's assassin Brutus, the apostle Paul, Saint Nicholas, and many others.
