Dubrovsky. The Captain's Daughter

 

Prose works by A.S. Pushkin, along with his poetic works, have entered the golden collection of classics, making the author the founder of Russian prose in the realistic direction. The poet believed that narration should be dynamic and vivid: "Precision... and brevity are the first virtues of prose." The book includes two novels: "Dubrovsky," centered around the romantic image of a hero-bandit rising against an unjust society, and "The Captain's Daughter," about the dramatic events of the 1770s, where facts, folklore, eyewitness accounts of the Pugachev Revolt, and artistic fiction are intertwined in an astonishing way.
