The name of the Czech writer, teacher, and historian Eduard Štorch is widely known not only in his homeland but also in other countries. Štorch's adventure novels, dedicated to the distant past of humanity, still capture the interest of young...
(and not only!) readers. Štorch has repeatedly participated in archaeological expeditions and many excavations – and to share his knowledge with the younger generation, he began writing books about the lives of primitive people. «The Bronze Treasure» is another captivating story about the lives of prehistoric tribes inhabiting the banks of the Vltava River. The main character, a boy named Shorty, is an outsider among his own. Despite being the son of the respected Tracker of the Bear Tribe, Shorty endures constant mockery from his peers and jabs from adults, all due to his small stature and physical weakness. The Bears cannot accept the frail boy as their equal. However, Shorty tries not to lose heart – like his father, he is excellent at reading animal tracks and finds solace in walks through the forest and communication with animals. But it seems that the boy's dreams of belonging will never come true... The Tracker is found dead, and he is accused of a treacherous crime. Shorty sees through the tracks that his father is innocent, but the tribesmen do not want to listen to the boy. He can no longer remain among the Bears, and Shorty sets out on a dangerous journey to find the treasure that a stranger told them about, while also searching for his father's killers and restoring his honorable name. This novel, illustrated by the remarkable Czech artist Zdeněk Burian, is published for the first time in Russian!
