Mindful Reading

This book is designed to develop the habit of regular reading of the books of Srila Prabhupada. It contains all the necessary methods and guidelines to improve your reading. The book is entirely based on the teachings of Srila Prabhupada.

In fact, it is more accurate to say that this is not just a book, but a textbook. It can be read in two ways.

If you already read books regularly. In this case, you can simply read it like any other book. Discover something new, interesting, and useful.

If you do not read books regularly. Then you can study the material as a textbook, completing all the assignments, setting the goal of regular reading.

The book consists of two sections. The first section contains eight lessons, which are divided into two parts. In lessons one to six, the emphasis is primarily on developing the reading habit, while in lessons seven and eight, it focuses on deepening the taste for reading books. Each lesson is accompanied by thematic sections. If you use the book as a textbook, it is best to go through one lesson each day, or every two to three days, or at least once a week, making sure to dedicate time to the practical exercises outlined at the end of each chapter. At the end of each lesson, there is a QR code. Activate your phone camera, point it at the QR code, and a link to the practical exercise will appear. You can print these documents and complete the assignments. The QR code for the first lesson contains a reading diary. After the lessons, there is a section with applications. It presents various facts and stories about the writing and publication of the books of Srila Prabhupada. A distinctive feature of this book is that it contains many quotes from Srila Prabhupada related to reading books. In total, there are 88 quotes: 44 from letters, 25 from commentaries, and 19 from the memories of disciples. Why so many? Firstly, the book is dedicated to reading, and thus we immediately start practicing it. Secondly, the words of Srila Prabhupada are the key to understanding any topics. Through the lens of his instructions, we can penetrate the mystery of reading.
