"I am thirty-five years old, self-consciousness has torn my brain and rushed into childhood; with a torn brain, I watch the clouds of events smoke; how they run backward..." So begins Andrei Bely, like thirty-five-year-old Dante's "Divine Comedy," the novel... "Kitty Letaev." This work is poetic, philosophical, and autobiographical. It narrates the birth and formation of consciousness in the main character, affectionately called "Kitty." The rhythm reveals the birth of the world, which flashes and spirals like the self-awareness of an infant. A dream-recollection, a complex structure - the author's third novel turned out to be one of the most innovative works in Russian literature of the early 20th century.
