Charles surpassed Byron in popularity and circulation as naturally as the era of Romanticism was replaced by Realism. His unparalleled humor, vivid, modest characters, humanism, and compassion in his prose were in demand in the 19th century both in England and around the world. The writer's formation occurred through a happy but poor childhood, debts, travels, family, literary work, and posthumous fame.
