Chronology of Water

Lydia Yuknavitch's memoir "Chronology of Water" made a loud impact on the American book scene in 2011 and brought the writer fame and recognition. Releasing memories from different years into a free drift, Yuknavitch, who nearly became a professional swimmer, tells the story of survival and overcoming trauma: from childhood in a dysfunctional family marked by violence from her father, through alcohol-soaked years of a turbulent youth when the collapse of hopes led to experiments with substances and relationships, to her emergence as a writer and mother in spite of losses. Lydia Yuknavitch writes fiercely, in one breath, laying bare her traumatic experience before her readers, her relationships with paternal and maternal figures (important roles in her life were played by Ken Kesey and Kathy Acker), and bodily experiences. An explicit, bitter, yet hopeful book about how to swim through life, how to forge your path to resilience and light. The adaptation of this memoir will mark Kristen Stewart's directorial debut.
