On a picturesque island near Istanbul, hidden among pine and pomegranate trees, lies a secret refuge for artists of all kinds: painters, architects, writers, musicians. They come here to regain their lost inspiration, tranquility, and peace. The Scottish artist Elspeth Conroy, known on the island as Nell, left the art scene of 1960s London, having lost faith in herself. She has lived in this refuge for many years, spending sleepless nights experimenting with pigments in search of the perfect paint for her future masterpiece. The usual life on the island is disrupted by the arrival of a new guest - seventeen-year-old Fullerton. Nell suspects that the boy is in danger and wants to help him, but to do so, she must find out the cause of his nightmares, why he fled from England, and what he is working on in his studio.
