Robert Wright, nicknamed Doc, is a veteran of Antarctic research. He was on the ice floe when the worst thing happened. Robert keeps in memory the story of that night when a real disaster occurred with him and his companions,... resulting in the death of one of the expedition members. After suffering partial frostbite and a stroke, the hero has to learn to live again - to speak and move. Long rehabilitation falls on the shoulders of Robert's wife, Anna. She, accustomed to her husband's constant absence, was about to part ways with him altogether, but the tragedy made her look at their relationship in a new light. The narration captivates, as do the settings against which part of the action unfolds. It delicately tells the story of everyday heroism, mutual aid, and self-sacrifice through the example of one family. «Stumble, Fall, Rise» is a probing exploration of a person's desire to share their experiences with the world at a moment when words let them down. The book made it to the list of the best works of 2021 according to Kirkus Reviews and Publishers Weekly.
