Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff, unfortunately, did not leave behind memoirs, and before us is effectively the only authentic memoir document — the composer's story about himself. The book of Rachmaninoff's memories, recorded by Oskar von Riesemann, was published in London in 1934. From the pages of the book, the voice of our great compatriot resounds, telling about his childhood, years of study, first steps as a pianist and conductor, dramatic events and triumphs that made him, by the age of thirty, a pride and glory of Russia. The release of the album coincides with the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great composer.
