The main character, Jay Gatsby, is extraordinarily wealthy. His life is a constant conquest of new heights... for one single person – his beloved woman. Unfortunately, she preferred another, and in general, she is petty, indecisive, and unworthy of her admirer.
Lies, infidelities, and big money – this is the meaning of life for the people whose circle Gatsby strives to enter. The strong contrast between him and those around him creates total tension in the plot, which will inevitably lead to an unexpected and tragic resolution.
