The sensational Fight Club by American writer Chuck Palahniuk began as a short story, which eventually became the sixth chapter of a powerful cult work published at the end of the 20th century. The novel had the effect of a... bombshell. The cynical text was instantly quoted, and three years later, a film of the same name was released, which still ranks among the best films that have caused significant public resonance. Literary critics interpret the themes of the novel differently: there are nihilism, religious motives, mind games, criticism of consumer society, and a story of romantic relationships. But as the author himself asserts, his hero is simply a lonely person looking for ways to get closer to others, to be understood, accepted, and loved. The book presents a shortened and adapted text at the Intermediate level.
