Nikolai Rubtsov – an outstanding poet of the second half of the 20th century, a seer of his own fate, who left a vivid mark in Russian poetry. Poetry is strong and enduring when it comes through the personal, through the private, but at the same time, scale and life-like character of moods, experiences, and reflections are needed… N. Rubtsov is often compared to Sergei Yesenin. There is much in common in their poetry and lives. But Rubtsov did not imitate his favorite poet; he followed his own path, no less bright, but more modest and quiet. Sincerity, heartfelt expression, penetration into every corner of the human soul, empathy towards others, the ability to love, to believe, to be happy and to rejoice even in small things made Rubtsov's lyricism extraordinarily close to people. It's no wonder so many songs have been written to his poems – both bard and pop: I Will Ride the Bicycle for a Long Time…, It's Bright in My Room, Star of the Fields, Village Nights… This collection includes the most famous poems of Nikolai Rubtsov.
