Tao Te Ching — Canon on Tao and Te — is one of the main monuments of Chinese thought and all of Chinese culture, arising in the Eastern Zhou period of the 8th–3rd centuries BC and later presented in the... form of a canon, encompassing several centuries of Taoist practice. Tao Te Ching contains the fundamental concepts of Taoism, revealing them on very different levels. The multilayered meanings embedded in the canon allow for the continual rediscovery of all its aspects as the reader personally advances. Each stanza of the new modern translation of the canon is also presented in the original language, providing an opportunity for additional work with the text.
