Dinka

The largely autobiographical book Dinka from 1959, which has raised more than one generation of schoolchildren, tells of true friendship and loyalty. The Arsenyev family spends the summer at their dacha near Samara. The headstrong Dinka – the youngest of three sisters – is bored sitting in one place all day, so she often sneaks away to the banks of the Volga. During one of these escapades, the girl meets the orphan Lenka, who protects her from bullies. This is how she gains a loyal friend for joint adventures.
