After the so-called events — the terrible pandemic that engulfed the whole world – raising domestic birds was banned. But once a year, from the window of the famous Parisian restaurant «Tour d’Argent», a special sacrificial duck is traditionally released. The crowd cheers – the lucky one who manages to catch the runaway will be rewarded. He will be able to share a festive meal with the president of the republic himself. Bets are placed, the hunt has begun. But this time, nothing will go as planned. For the bird intends to avoid the slaughter. And several marginal figures – dreamers, admirers of the poetry of Arthur Rimbaud and Guillaume Apollinaire – will help her in this. In her post-apocalyptic fable-novel, unfolding in the rhythm of a fairy-tale chase, Éloa Oduen-Ruzo masterfully dissects the phenomenon of social cruelty.
