The Prince. On the Art of War

The most famous work of the writer became the treatise The Prince, originally published in Russia under the titles Duke and Ruler. Machiavelli created a doctrine about a consistently secular state, free from church morality. He believed that in the... struggle to strengthen the state, any means were permissible: violence, deceit, betrayal. The term machiavellism, which later appeared, came to denote a politics that disregards the laws of morality. However, today many of the author's positions are perceived as self-evident, having found their embodiment in the history of the 20th century. The book also includes the brilliant treatise by Niccolò Machiavelli On the Art of War, which astonished his contemporaries with a tough and practical approach not only to military tactics but also to strategy.
