Ordinary Passion. Shame

Under one cover are two novels by Nobel Prize winner Annie Ernaux. «Ordinary Passion» — an autobiographical novel about obsession with a man, which causes a woman to neglect not only the whole world but also her own life. But what is such a passion really: a curse or a luxury? The novel served as the basis for the eponymous Franco-Belgian film, which was included in the program of the Cannes Film Festival and the International Festival in San Sebastián. ___________ «Shame» — this is a resurrection on paper of memories of the morals of post-war Normandy, a Catholic school, and the burning feeling of shame for one's origin and surroundings, which is felt more than ever in childhood.
