How should smart adult women, who have been friends since university years, react to silly letters from a blackmailer? Throw them away and forget? Or perhaps try to understand if there is a reasonable explanation for the seemingly stupid threats?... Especially if one of the friends almost immediately gets hit by a car... Together with the heroine who takes on the investigation, we are transported to the beginning of the 1990s, the second half of the 1970s, and even further back in time. Recent events are intricately intertwined with stories that happened long ago, unexpected misfortunes intertwine with troubles that seemed buried many years ago. Memories both help and hinder in understanding who is to blame for the half-forgotten mysterious tragedies and how they are connected to the dangers that have befallen those who once formed a cheerful student company. The detective novel evolves into an exploration of our relationship with the past and prompts reflection on quite painful ethical issues.
