The provincial town of Ensk is shaken by a series of murders that terrify with their brutality. It has been established that the killer is a lone wolf, clearly a maniac distinguished by refined sadism. His murders turn into a... gruesome ritual, and it is unclear how many more people he must destroy to quench his thirst for blood. The local police are at their wits' end in search of the criminal, as he is cunning and elusive, and his actions are unpredictable and devoid of visible logic. But there can be no delay. To aid in the investigation, senior investigator Roman Muromtsev, who has experience in investigating serial murders, arrives from St. Petersburg. A fierce game begins between the detective and the criminal, the winner of which remains unknown until the end.
