Solar Substance

Matvey Bronshtein 1906–1938, during his short life, managed to enter the history of both fundamental physics and scientific-artistic literature. His adventure stories about scientific discoveries and inventions became a model of a new literary genre. He told about a substance... discovered first on the Sun and only many years later on Earth. About the accidental discovery of invisible X-rays, which brought Röntgen the very first Nobel Prize in Physics, and humanity — a device that allows seeing through. And he managed to tell about the invention of radio, without which there would be neither television nor the internet. At the same time, at the same desk, Matvey Bronshtein wrote outstanding scientific works on quantum gravity and cosmology, which have retained their value to this day. The second part of the book consists of testimonies about the life and literary alliance of Matvey Bronshtein and Lydia Chukovskaya, thanks to which the stories collected in the book were born.
