Father Looks West

The debut novel by Ekaterina Manoilo, which attracted the close attention of literary reviewers and critics long before the book was published, and also received the «Lyceum» award named after Alexander Pushkin.

The heroine of the novel, Katya, is the daughter... of a Russian and a Kazakh and lives in a small border town, with both cultures having an equal influence on the formation of her personality: contradictory, complex, vibrant. She leaves for Moscow from a deep personal tragedy, but it is impossible to escape from her homeland forever: it attracts her, makes her return at least for a while, and tries to break her.

This is a novel about violence and freedom, happiness and dependency, death and life triumphing over it. A book about the rebellion of children against their fathers, in which true love often lies hidden.
