Ovation to the Senator

The Senate, paying tribute to the mind and abilities of Publius Aurelius Statius, entrusts him with investigating the murder of Antonius Felix. Or rather: a possible attempt on his own life. The thing is, the criminal ambushed Antonius when he... was exiting the senator's palanquin, dressed in his luxurious cloak. Witnesses claim that the murderer mentioned Aurelius's name before fleeing. Who was the intended victim - Aurelius or Antonius? And then troubles suddenly start pouring down like from a horn of plenty. An old friend of the patrician threatens to sue him, accusing him of his father's death and an immoral relationship with his mother. And a widowed matron is firmly resolved to marry the free-spirited Statius. So, wishing to avoid all dangers at once, Publius Aurelius disguises himself as a commoner and begins an investigation in the most remote and dangerous streets of Rome.
