A new encyclopedia on traditional folk embroidery by Anna Zaitseva, a recognized expert in her field, is dedicated to the richest variety of embroidery traditions of the numerous peoples of our vast country! From the republics of the North Caucasus to the most distant northern lands, the traditions of handmade creativity differ from one another just as much as any other cultural traditions. Together with the author, we will not only embark on an exciting and enlightening journey through the magical world of embroidery, learning and discovering the historically established customs, techniques, and secrets of folk art, but also learn to embroider in various folk styles, mastering the basic stitches and seams, and most importantly – the aesthetics and cultural codes of each particular nation. Of course, it is impossible to encompass the embroidery traditions of all the peoples inhabiting our country in one volume. Therefore, the main focus of this creative journey is to feel, through beautiful examples and projects, both the differences and the mutual influence of different cultures, to experience all the diversity of traditional embroidery art. Along the way, we will gain new creative skills and perhaps choose a new direction for creative development.
