Calpurnia

1899, Texas. 11-year-old Calpurnia is interested in nature and records all her observations and questions in her diary. Why do dogs have eyelashes? Why are yellow grasshoppers large, while green ones are small? She is helped by her grandfather, a self-taught naturalist. But in the house live six brothers and conservative parents. And in their opinion, if you are a girl and were born at the dawn of the 20th century, you should only be interested in good manners and table setting. But what if science could open the way to freedom?
Daphne Collignon is a French artist who turned the eponymous book by Jacqueline Kelly into a graphic novel.
