Now she is a... theater critic who has to settle for only scathing reviews for a magazine. Hoping for a promotion, she agrees to an interview with a strange graduate student who disappears without a trace after their meeting, which puts Vivian under suspicion, as she is the last person to see him alive. Vivian does what she promised herself she would never do again: she plays her new role — that of an amateur detective. But the further the investigation goes, the more she realizes that everything is a production of an obsessed, yet incredibly talented puppeteer, in which she is destined to play the role of the victim.
